I have a pile of mini-books- some 2 3/4" x 3" and a couple of 1 1/2" x 2 1/2". I'm trying to think of a good challenge for these. I've only got about 10 total at the moment, but I don't mind coming up with a handful more for a really good idea.

Thoughts so far:

--they make really good tiny additions to packages being mailed
--they tuck into people's pockets & bags easily (people you know, please- no sense getting nabbed for attempted pick-pocketing)
--might be able to sneak them into people's piles of stuff, like "accidentally" dropping them in a shopping cart at the grocery store or wherever shopping carts are used
--leaving them in really obvious places, figuring their size will make them just a little harder to find. Counters in the mall food court came to mind.

A concern I have: how the heck to get a useful BCID sticker/plate/label onto the books without obliterating the cover or inside information completely.
I'm going to try to shrink some .jpgs & .gifs I have, and see if they're still legible, then look for a page with as much white space as possible, and maybe use a sticky note to make sure that page is obvious.

I'm "bldrnrpdx5" on BC. I'm really interested in suggestions, ideas, & input.

A couple of weeks ago, I was at a local community center, in the company of others who are also BookCrossers, and some who aren't. As we were heading home, one of my buddies saw a BC book sitting on a ledge. After we all looked it over, one of the guys was going to take it home for his spouse. Big fat BC sticker on the front cover, left in a public place, all seems kosher.

One of the community center staff came rushing up as we ambled away, frantically trying to rescue the book! Seems that the center got a phone call from a reader who had left the book behind and wasn't done with it and wanted it back! At this point, hilarity erupted while the BC types tried to explain the BC concept to the non-reading staff type.

We got her to read the sticker on the cover, and she was amazed and confused. We, being greedy book-gobblers, were sure that she must be mistaken about someone abandoning the book in error. That was when she explained about the caller who wasn't finished with the "released" book. End of story: we left the book with the staff member and asked her to explain the sticker to the reader.

Or maybe 'twas just me who finds it altogether hilarious, even after the fact. :-D
