I'm trying to put together a list. What are your favorite bookstores from your hometowns and that you've found in your travels.
Here are a few of mine;
Bookman's (used) Flagstaff, AZ
Back of Beyond Moab, Utah
Green Apple SF, CA
cross-posted in Book Club & Bookworms & I just finished reading...

Re: Favorite Independent Bookstores?
Tue, February 10, 2004 - 11:39 AMHaven't done enough exploring yet in Wisconsin, but my favorites back in Springfield, MO, were The Open Book on Commercial Street and Half-Price Books in the Plaza shopping center. Both are used bookstores. When I lived in Columbia, MO, I loved going to Acorn Books on 9th Street for used books.

Re: Favorite Independent Bookstores?
Fri, February 13, 2004 - 11:33 AMNothing much close, but The Book Trader in Philadelphia has been a wonderful source for used books for years.
I first encountered it walking home well after midnight -- it was open! -- back in the 1970s. The fact that it was open was enough to grab me. That there was a cat wandering around as well made me a permanent customer. :-)
The place has changed over the years, and I don't live in Philly any more, but it is still a pretty good source for the books you can't find anywhere else. -
