Mon, January 26, 2004 - 5:45 PMHey Tom,
I signed up at Bookcrossing. as Coelacanth.
Now, to figure out this Bookcrossing deal.
The thing is, I recycle most of my books by selling them to Bookman's for booktrade credit so I can get more books. But sometimes there's a perfectly good book they don't want, so I'll release those... as soon as I figure this all out. -

Wed, January 28, 2004 - 9:44 AMHi there Ellen Bee. A lot of people on the bookcrossing site work with books .. as booksellers, book re-sellers, authors, editors, etc. So, I don't think your current method of trading books back for credit will interfere.
Many of us will buy cheap books just to release them. I do this a lot ... I bid on big book lots on e-bay and get books for like .40 a piece. The ones that interest me go on my to be read pile and the one's that don't go on the to be released pile. I haven't released recently because I've had some personal problems ... but I find it a lot of fun. There's something magical about leaving a book out hoping that you can pass on your love of reading. I'd love if all my books got registered but I think just having one person get into reading is well worth all of it. All about karma.

Wed, July 27, 2005 - 5:23 AMHave you still not figured it out? It looks like your bookshelf is empty. I have known people who have donated books to goodwill or sold them at a garage sale but still registered with bookcrossing to see where they end up. I have personally entered a lot of books that I don't plan to release just to have them all in one place - an electronic bookshelf. It's a nice way to track my to read pile and prioritize. Good luck!
